Between January and June 2021, 1.3 million fixed-term contracts were ended in the Italian job market. In the whole of 2020, 3.4 million fixed-term contracts were ended in Italy, a decrease compared to 2019. Since March 2020 the Italian government has imposed on enterprises a ban on layoffs of employees for economic reasons in order to mitigate the impact of coronavirus on the job market.
