Tunisia: youth unemployment rate by gender 2019-2022

In the first quarter of 2022, the youth unemployment rate in Tunisia stood at 36 percent among the female population, compared to 39.8 percent among men. Since the second quarter of 2021, young women in the country have had a lower unemployment rate than young men. The young population aged 15 to 24 years in Tunisia faced high levels of unemployment in recent years. In addition, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the total youth unemployment rate peaked at 42.5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2020.
