Global fresh groundwater withdrawals 2020, by main country
India withdraws more fresh groundwater than other country in the world, at an estimated 251 billion cubic meters per year. The United States followed, with approximately 111 billion cubic meters withdrawn. Groundwater is water found beneath Earth's surface in the cracks and spaces in soil, sand, and rock. The United States has the largest renewable groundwater resources worldwide.
