Annual adoptions in Iceland 1996-2020, by place of birth
Between 1996 and 2020, China was the most common birthplace for people adopted in Iceland. Adoptions peaked in 2005, however, the total number of children adopted in Iceland has decreased steadily since 2012, particularly for Chinese children. Meanwhile, the number of Czech children adopted in Iceland has increased over the past decade.
