Angola: alcohol consumption per capita by beverage

Alcohol consumption in Angola was measured at an average of 5.85 liters of pure alcohol per capita in 2019. Beer was the source of around 3.8 liters of pure alcohol consumed per person in the country, while the demand for spirits corresponded to a consumption of nearly 1.8 liters of pure alcohol per capita. Overall, the volume of recorded alcohol consumption in Angola has been decreasing. For instance, around 7.6 liters of pure alcohol per capita were consumed in the country in 2010.

"In order to make the conversion into liters of pure alcohol, if beverage volumes are not available in liters of pure alcohol, the alcohol content (% alcohol by volume) is considered to be as follows: Beer (barley beer 5%), Wine (grape wine 12%; must of grape 9%, vermouth 16%), Spirits (distilled spirits 40%; spirit-like 30%), and Other (sorghum, millet, maize beers 5%; cider 5%; fortified wine 17% and 18%; fermented wheat and fermented rice 9%; other fermented beverages 9%)".
