Share of children attending educational institutions in South Africa 2014-2018
In 2018, the share of children between the ages of six and 13 who were attending educational institutions in South Africa was at 90.8 percent. As of the same year, 8.1 percent of the individuals in the age group were attending other educational institutions (pre-primary, secondary or other special schools). Moreover, only 1.1 percent in this age group were out of school. Overall, attendance in schools was highest in 2016 with a total of 99.1 percent.
