Thailand: active cryptocurrency trading accounts 2024

On January 15, 2024, the number of active newly opened accounts for cryptocurrency trading in Thailand amounted to approximately 120,000 accounts. The number of new trading accounts peaked in December 2021 but showed a downward trend with a hike in May 2022, where the prices of cryptos went down after the Terra-LUNA crash.

Data prior to June 2023 were obtain from the previous reports. Figures include only domestic trading accounts of those legally categorized as a normal person. In Thailand, a juristic person and normal person are legal classifications of the ownership of a business. A normal person may operate a business with only one person as the owner while a juristic person has two or more people. This legal business ownership classification is used for calculating different tax structures for each categorized group.
