Mobile messaging app usage by country 2021

In 2021, Mexico was estimated to be the country with the highest share of mobile phone messaging app users, with more than 96 percent of its mobile internet users using over-the-top (OTT) messaging apps. Finland, Spain, and China are estimated to see more than 95 percent of their mobile internet users on messaging apps. France, Canada, and the United States are expected to be the countries with the comparatively smaller rates of mobile messaging apps users. Especially in the United States, unlimited SMS traffic plans contribute to the low rate of mobile messaging app users.
