GHG emissions of select mining companies worldwide FY 2022, by scope
In financial year 2022, Rio Tinto's operational Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions were 30.3 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e). Scope 1 emissions relate to direct emissions owned or controlled by company, and are typically higher than Scope 2 emissions, which relate to indirect emissions, such as purchased electricity.
