Mineral extraction and energy employee count in Russia 2017-2022
In 2021, nearly 2.8 million people worked in mineral extraction and electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply in Russia, slightly more than in the previous year. Employees in energy, gas, electricity, and steam supply as well as air conditioning occupied over two percent of the workforce in the country, while the mining industry accounted for 1.6 percent of total employment.
