Estimated drought and wildfire economic costs in the U.S. 2020, by state
Wildfires and droughts in California in 2020 resulted in economic costs of between 10 and 20 billion U.S. dollars. This is far more than in any other U.S. state. Drought-conditions have worsened in the U.S. Southwest over the last few years, with Nevada the only Southwest state not yet having declared a drought-related state of emergency.
