Number of suicide helpline counselors South Korea 2020-2021
In 2021, about 57 counselors worked at the national suicide prevention hotline in South Korea, a slight increase from the previous year. While the South Korean government plans to increase the number of counselors to about 80 by 2022, this is still considered insufficient. The central hotline was established in 2018. Previously, there were different suicide helplines in each province.
