Major reasons for increased awareness of plastic waste issues Japan 2022
According to a survey conducted about plastic waste in April 2022 in Japan, with over 79 percent, the majority of respondents mentioned that their awareness in plastic waste issues increased due to the fee for plastic shopping bags. To reduce plastic waste, the Japanese government prohibited all retail shops from distributing free plastic shopping bags as of July 2020.
