Still water bottles are the most common type of plastic bottle found in the River Thames, accounting for 46 percent of identifiable bottles found. The next most common bottle types are cola, sports drinks, and fruit drinks. According to the source, a total of 97,019 drink bottles were found between April 2016 and December 2019. Approximately 96 percent of the UK bottled water market is made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
