Africa: mineral production value to GDP

Metallic mineral and coal production in Africa corresponded to nearly 4.5 percent of the continent's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2018. This declined from 7.1 percent in 2016. Notwithstanding the drop, mineral production value as a size of the region's economy generally increased. For instance, it represented 1.2 percent of Africa's GDP in 2000.
