In 2019, around 30.3 billion U.S. dollars were spent on pregnancy-related and newborn care in low- and middle-income countries. It is estimated that annual costs would need to increase to 54 billion U.S. dollars if all pregnancy-related and newborn care needs for women in low- and middle-income countries were met.
