Most valuable Banksy artwork sold at auction worldwide 2022
On October 14, 2021, auction house Sotheby's sold Banky's "Love is in the Bin" for 18.58 million British pounds, making it the most expensive artwork by the English-based street artist sold at auction to date. The work, previously known as "Girl with Balloon", gained notoriety for self-shredding during an auction in 2018, just after being sold for one billion British pounds. This record was formerly held by Banksy's "Game Changer", which fetched nearly 17 million British pounds at a Christie's auction on March 23, 2021, exactly a year after the national lockdown in the United Kingdom. Its sales were entirely donated to the UK's National Health Service (NHS).
