Europe: ocean waste items by type and country 2022

During the International Coastal Ocean Cleanup day in September 2022, thousands of people in Europe volunteered to collect waste from coastlines. Mediterranean countries such as Spain or Greece featured large numbers of litter items found along their coastlines that year. The most commonly found waste item across Europe was cigarette butts.
