Sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) have the potential to significantly reduce aircraft emissions. Although SAF production is quite low, this market is expected to expand, with the projected production capacity of HEFA-based SAF reaching 4.2 million tonnes by 2025. Hydrotreated Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA) is the hydrogenation process of vegetable oils, waste oils, or fats into SAF.
