Chinese banks lending into energy and infrastructure projects in Africa 2014-2020
As of 2020, Sub-Saharan Africa received 3.3 billion U.S. dollars in lending from Chinese banks for energy and infrastructure projects. The amount increased from 2.8 billion U.S. dollars in the previous year, despite the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, the lending value was still far below that achieved in 2017, when it peaked at 11 billion U.S. dollars.
