Public attitudes towards war refugees in selected Latin American countries 2023
As of 2023, Mexico was the country in Latin America most receptive to refugees that are escaping from war or persecution, with 82 percent of respondents strongly agreeing that people should be able to take refuge in other countries, including Mexico. Meanwhile, Chile was the only country below 75 percent of agreement to taking in war refugees and the highest disagreement rate, at 24 percent, among the selected Latin American countries that year.
