Climate change knowledge in African countries 2016-2018
According to a study conducted in 2016 and 2018, among 32 countries in Africa, Mauritius had the highest percentage of respondents with knowledge about climate change. About 60 percent of the people from Mauritius not only had heard of climate change but also associated it with negative changes in weather patterns and knew that human activity plays a role in causing it. According to the same study, five out of 10 Africans identified human activity as the main cause of climate change. In addition, 16 percent of respondents stated that climate change was the result of both human activity and natural processes.
