Auction sales of top male vs female artists worldwide 2022

Between July 2021 and June 2022, the combined revenue of the five male contemporary artists recording the highest auction results amounted to roughly 630 million U.S. dollars. Revenue from sales of Jean-Michel Basquiat's artworks alone accounted for over 40 percent of that figure. Meanwhile, the combined sales of the five female contemporary artists with the highest auction results added up to around 157 million U.S. dollars as of the period considered.
