Japan: perceived importance of TV as a source of information by age group 2021

According to a survey conducted in Japan during fiscal year 2021, more than 92 percent of respondents aged 60 to 69 years old stated that television is an important source of information. The share of people who thought this way was lower among the other age cohorts.

*The source counts the answers of the survey conducted from November to December 2021 as figures for fiscal year 2021. The Japanese fiscal year starts on April 1 of the stated year and ends on March 31 of the following year.

Respondents were asked how important they regarded television as "a means to gain information (source of information)". There were five possible answers: "Very important", "Important to a certain degree", "Neither", "Not really important", "Absolutely not important". The values shown in this statistic represent the combined share of respondents who answered either "Very important" or "Important to a certain degree".
