Africa: construction projects by funding source 2020

As of 2020, African governments provided funding for most of the infrastructure projects in Africa. Nearly 28 percent of the total number of construction projects were funded by governments, which equaled over 100 projects. Consortiums and China followed, with shares of 15 percent and 13.5 percent, respectively. The least contribution came from Middle Eastern countries, which financed around two percent of the infrastructure and capital projects in Africa.

"To qualify for inclusion, infrastructure construction projects are required to be valued at over US$50m. For this year’s edition, projects must have broken ground, but not yet been commissioned by 1 June 2020".

Single countries include Australia, Brazil, Russia, the UK and the U.S. Middle East Countries include Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the UAE.
