The most common line of work for immigrants in Iceland was in the tourism industry. More than 10,000 of the total 42,995 immigrants employed in the country worked in tourism. The manufacturing industry is the second most common industry for immigrants, closely followed by the accommodation and food industry. The industry with the lowest number of migrant workers was the mining and quarrying industry. Employment rates tend to be over 80 percent among the foreign-born population in Iceland.
