Active television subscriptions in India 2019-2021, by type
The number of pay TV subscriptions in India saw a notable decrease between 2019 and 2021. Among the three television segments categorized under pay TV subscriptions, cable television reduced to 67 million subscriptions just as that of Free TV increased 43 million, which can be attributed to government attempts made to digitize television across the country. Meanwhile, direct-to-home saw a slight decline while HITS subscriptions increased that year.
