Czechia: domestic trips by purpose 2012-2019

In 2019, around 27.5 million domestic trips were made in total in Czechia. This was an increase compared to the previous year, but less than in 2017. The majority of domestic trips was taken for personal reasons, as well as for holidays, leisure, and recreation. Professional and business trips made up the smallest share.

This collection covers national tourism. Data is collected by the respective national authorities of the member states and is compiled according to a harmonized methodology established by EU regulations before transmission to Eurostat. Most of the time, data on domestic and outbound trips (where "outbound tourism" means residents of a country travelling in another country) is collected via sample surveys. However, in a few cases the data are compiled from border surveys. Surveys are generally conducted on a monthly or quarterly basis.
All tourism trips made by residents aged 15 or over for personal or professional/business purpose, with at least one overnight stay.
