Preferred way of cooking miso soup in Japan 2021

The most popular method to prepare miso soup in Japan was using granulated or instant dashi as revealed in a survey conducted in June 2021. While over 66 percent of respondents used instant dashi as a basis, almost 19 percent purchased instant or ready-to-eat miso soups from retailers.
Dashi refers to a clear stock made from edible kelp or bonito flakes, into which miso paste is mixed to prepare miso soup.
