Life satisfaction in Norway 2020-2023

Life satisfaction in Norway decreased from 2020 to 2021. The majority of this difference can likely be attributed to a year of living with COVID-19 restrictions. Life satisfaction then increased again by 2023.

Higher satisfaction among older and better educated

In Norway, people with a higher education are more satisfied with their life than people with a primary or a secondary education. Furthermore, the older age groups have a higher life satisfaction than the younger. Life satisfaction rates among men and women are fairly evenly split, but women have slightly more negative feelings than men.

Mental health and loneliness

The share of the population in Norway that is satisfied with its mental health decreased from 2020 to 2021. Moreover, satisfaction with social relations decreased. Women are more satisfied with their social lives than men.
