Global coal demand share 2019, by sector

In 2019, the electricity and heat sector accounted for s 67 percent share of the global demand for coal. This was by far the largest share of coal demand from any sector in that year. By comparison, the iron and steel sector accounted for twelve percent of coal demand worldwide at that time.
