Japan: usage rate of aesthetic medicine services by gender and period

According to a survey conducted in August 2023, about 11.9 percent of female respondents and 8.1 percent of male respondents in Japan underwent aesthetic medicine procedures such as medical hair removal and cosmetic surgeries within a year. At the same time, around 48 percent of women and 65 percent of men never received any treatments and were not interested in aesthetic medicine.

Aesthetic medicine includes medical hair removal, cosmetic internal medicine, cosmetic dermatology, cosmetic surgery, dental aesthetics, and orthodontics.
