A survey conducted in the United Kingdom in February 2020 asked children which site or service they had been using when they had come across potential online harms. Overall, 30 percent of children who were asked said that they had experienced potential online harms on social media sites or apps. Additionally, 12 percent said that they had come across potential online harms via an instant messaging service. In total, of 81 percent of children reported that they had experienced potentially harmful online content within the last 12 months.
