LNG emissions breakdown by segment 2021
Downstream use accounts for the greatest share of LNG cargo emissions, at 67 percent. When considering all three emission categories, scope 3 (downstream - emissions arising from the use of the product) is by far the largest contributor to overall emissions of a LNG cargo unit. By comparison, the liquefaction segment accounted for ten percent of LNG cargo emissions.
