Japan: leading incentives to undergo cosmetic surgeries by gender 2021

According to a survey conducted in August 2021, overcoming one's insecurities and self-satisfaction were the main reasons for undergoing or being interested in undergoing cosmetic surgeries among female respondents in Japan. While self-satisfaction was also a leading reason for cosmetic surgeries among men, to be popular was another incentive for male respondents to undergo cosmetic surgeries.
