Japan: volume of steel consumed for shipbuilding 2021

In the fiscal year 2021, the shipbuilding industry in Japan consumed around 2.82 million tons of ordinary steel products, decreasing from roughly 3.25 million tons in the preceding fiscal year. This decrease was primarily caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted the demand for oceangoing vessels.
