Energy-related CO₂ emissions in selected U.S. states 2020, by sector
Energy-related carbon dioxide emissions in Texas totaled 624 million metric tons (MtCO₂) in 2020. The industrial sector was responsible for roughly 37 percent of this total, while transportation accounted for 31 percent. In comparison, the transportation sector in California accounted for more than 50 percent of the state's energy-related emissions that year, at more than 160 MtCO₂.
