The majority of Japanese consumers bought domestically produced wagyu beef on at least one day per month, as revealed in a survey conducted in October 2023. While over 17.8 percent of respondents bought Japanese wagyu beef once a month, only two percent would purchase the meat almost everyday. Wagyu beef refers to the meat of four breeds of cattle native to Japan. High-grade cuts are commonly known for their marbled texture.
