More than 40 percent of consumers over the age of 20 have tried plant-based foods as an alternative to animal-derived products like meat as revealed in a survey conducted in Japan in October 2021. The largest share of respondents who have tried plant-based alternatives such as soy meats was found in the age group of 60 years and older, with almost 60 percent. In comparison, only one in three teens below 20 in age have tried such alternative proteins.
