Reasons for high freight rates and capacity constraints in shipping worldwide 2021
According to a 2021 global survey, around 29 percent of trade and logistics industry professionals believe that pandemic-related closures and congestion had the most significant effect in causing the surging freight rates and capacity constraints in maritime shipping. Some 24 percent of respondents blame container imbalance or shortage and about 13 percent carriers' management of capacity.
