Japan: share of women with menopausal disorders by age 2021

According to a survey conducted in July 2021, around 9.5 percent of female respondents in Japan aged 55 to 59 years who perceived menopausal indications and consulted a gynecologist were diagnosed with menopausal disorders. An overall share of about 12 percent of women who attended a gynecologist was not medically diagnosed with menopausal disorders or symptoms despite their perception. The majority of surveyed women, however, never visited a gynecologist for their perceived symptoms.
