The COVID-19 pandemic played a role in the apparition of depressive symptoms within the French population. From August 31 to September 7, 2021, 15 percent of respondents to a survey scored higher than 10 points on the depression section of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). A score higher than 10 on this scale is considered to indicate a clear depressive symptomatology.
