
Deforestation in the Amazonas state, Brazil by size and legality 2008-2021
In 2021, deforestation in the Amazonas state in Brazil reached the highest level in over a decade, with a total of 134.4 million acres logged. That year, over 66 percent of logging was found to be illicit deforestations. In the period of consideration, the record low was recorded in 2009, when a total of 23.2 million acres were deforested in the state.
