The number of food and beverage retail stores in the United States in 2019 amounted to about 150 thousand. Of those, around 35 thousand were beer, wine, and liquor stores. In 2019 there were just over 20 thousand stores with less than five employees, while stores with more than 500 employees numbered 2,229.
