*China was the world's largest cement producer by far based on installed capacity and production volume in 2022. However, the massive scale of the industry and the likely unreliability of the statistics provided by China means that China's actual cement production capacity is likely much higher than reported. For example, the USGS states that China's cement capacity is approximately 2.5 billion metric tons per year, while other sources estimate it to be up to 3.5 billion metric tons per year.
