The Asia-Pacific region accounted for approximately 33 percent of global transportation-related carbon dioxide emissions in 2021. North America was the second-largest contributor that year, accounting for 30 percent of emissions. These were mainly emitted by the United States, which is the biggest producer of transportation emissions by far.
