APAC: ICT skill level by country 2020

As of 2020, 60 percent of the population in Japan and Malaysia had basic ICT skills, of which over 40 percent possessed standard-level ICT skills. In comparison, four percent of the population in Pakistan had basic ICT skills.

The value for basic skills are based on four computer-based activities: copying or moving a file or folder, using copy and paste tools to duplicate or move information within a document, sending e-mails with attached files, and transferring files between a computer and other devices.
The value for standard skills are based on four computer-based activities: using basic arithmetic formula in a spreadsheet, connecting and installing new devices, creating electronic presentations with presentation software, and finding, downloading, installing, and configuring software.
The value for advanced skills are based on writing a computer program using a specialized programming language.
