Japan: breakdown of new home loans by interest rate type

In the fiscal year 2021, 76.2 percent of housing loans newly issued by private financial institutions in Japan were variable-rate loans. Fixed-rate loans for a set period accounted for 13.5 percent of the amount of new home loans granted.
