As of 2022, with just 1.5 degrees Celsius of global warming, the global population exposed to flooding incidents will increase by 24 percent. Additional warming of just 0.5 degrees Celsius will increase it by 30 percent. Population in coastal cities are often considered among the most vulnerable to sea level rise, storm surges, and coastal flooding.
