Number of oil based marine pollution cases Japan 2021, by cause
In 2021, out of the 332 confirmed cases of marine pollution with oil in Japan, the most frequent source of the oil spill were ships, followed by sources on shore with 40 cases. In that year, the majority of confirmed marine pollution cases in Japan was recorded in the Seto Inland Sea.
